Barrentine new director of technical services at Cheminova, Inc.

James Barrentine, formally head of the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas, has joined Cheminova, Inc. as the company's Director of Technical Services.

“We are delighted to have someone with Dr. Barrentine's experience, background and reputation join our company,” says Steve Greenfield, Cheminova president. “His accomplishments are literally too many to mention them all. But he has been a key player in the development of numerous crop protection products and is recognized throughout the industry as a consummate professional.”

At Cheminova, Barrentine's primary responsibilities will be to enhance the technical knowledge of Cheminova products, both internally and externally. He will coordinate the organization's efforts with various universities while looking for new growth opportunities and additions to the Cheminova product line.

Prior to joining the University of Arkansas, Barrentine was at DowElanco, where he held several positions. He is a past president of both the Southern Weed Science Society and the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA). In 1998, Barrentine was given the WSSA's Outstanding Industry Member award.

Throughout his career, Barrentine has conducted extensive research in developing and evaluating new herbicides throughout the United States and Canada. He has both a B.S. and M.S. degree in agronomy from the University of Arkansas and holds a Ph.D. in weed science from Purdue University.
