The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association’s Cattlemen’s Academy will be hosting two more nutrition clinics, co-sponsored by Merck Animal Health — Dec. 1 in Cadiz and Dec. 2 in Marietta.

OCA recognizes the importance of serving individual members across the state, and the goal of the Cattlemen’s Academy is to offer informative learning experiences as part of a current OCA membership. These clinics will follow all COVID-19 safety precautions and appropriate social distancing.

The nutrition clinics will include presentations from the Ohio State University Extension Beef Team, where producers will learn about nutrition considerations for cow-calf operations. Topics for the clinic will include forage quality, mineral and protein supplementation programs, and a 12-month look at cow nutrition needs.

These topics will be covered by Dr. Steve Boyles, professor at OSU, Garth Ruff, beef cattle field specialist at OSU, and a different industry professional at each location.

The Dec. 1 nutrition clinic is at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Cadiz at 6 p.m. Dr. Patrick Gunn, Purina, will be the additional speaker.

The last nutrition clinic will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Marietta, with the additional speaker being Austin Sexten, Burkmann Nutrition.

The Cattlemen’s Academy nutrition clinics are free for OCA members to attend. Those who are not current OCA members may still attend, but there is a $75-per-family fee due at registration.

This cost includes clinic attendance and an OCA membership. A meal is included for each participant at each of the clinics, sponsored by Merck Animal Health. Attendance at each clinic is limited.
