What's the latest in agriculture technology? You'll need to attend this year's Alabama-Florida Peanut Trade Show, Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds in Dothan, Ala., to get a glimpse of just what may be down the road for peanut producers.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. central time and exhibitors will open their booths at the same time to welcome in the attendees to the 2008 show.

In addition to inside and outside agriculture exhibits, there will be various equipment demonstrations. One special demonstration will feature a “Biodiesel Classroom on Wheels.” The “Classroom” is made possible by a collaborative partnership between Alabama A&M University and the Alabama Department of Agriculture’s Center for Alternative Fuels.

Built by Biodiesel Logic out of Albertville, Ala., the “Classroom” provides an in-depth look at how biodiesel fuel may be produced and informs public officials, business leaders, and citizens across the state about the ease of the process.

Other equipment demonstrations include a tractor powered by biodiesel and a furrow diking implement from the National Peanut Research Laboratory.

"There is a lot going on in the agriculture and the peanut industries and this trade show will give growers, and others involved in the industry, a chance to come together to discuss what could be down the road as far as agriculture,”said Randy Griggs, executive director of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association.

"We strongly encourage growers in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi to come be a part of this trade show."

This year will mark the third year of the trade show that is coordinated by the Alabama and Florida Peanut Producer Associations.

Lunch will be provided to those who attend and growers can register for great door prizes from the many exhibitors including $500 cash from Kelley Manufacturing Company; a certificate from Amadas Industries for one of the following: $10,000 credit on a self-propelled combine, $5,000 credit on a pull-type combine or $2,000 on other Amadas equipment; Stoeger Automatic Shotgun from the Southeastern Peanut Farmer Magazine; 3 nights free lodging for the 2008 Southern Peanut Growers Conference — Edgewater Beach Resort — Panama City Beach, Fla., and several other prizes.

"On behalf of both APPA and FPPA, I'd like to welcome all growers and industry interests to the trade show that will feature numerous exhibitors there to assist growers," Griggs said.

There are still some inside and outside exhibit spaces available. Potential vendors can contact Teresa Wilson at the Alabama Producers Association office (334)-792-6482.
