2002 Census Congressional data available

USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service has released “The Ranking of Congressional Districts Report” and “The Congressional District Profiles” from the 2002 Census of Agriculture on the Internet.

With the release of these two reports on the NASS public Web site, information covered by the 2002 Census of Agriculture is available on congressional districts throughout the United States. Data in the ranking report are presented by congressional districts for all states, except Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming which are “at large” states. The state total is presented for these seven states.

The statistics in the report include operator characteristics; farm characteristics; selected value of agricultural products sold; selected livestock inventories; and selected crops harvested.

The statistics presented in the profiles report provide ranked items among the 435 districts in the U.S. Ranked items include market value of agricultural product sold; value of sales by commodity group; top livestock inventory items; and top crop items. Other congressional district highlights, such as economic and operator characteristics, are in the report.

To find congressional district information online, go to the Web site, and click on either title under the “Vol 2 Subject Series” section. Census printed publications are available for sale through the National Technical Information Service at 800-999-6779.

Production, economic, demographic and environmental facts about U.S. agriculture are provided through regularly scheduled weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports. For additional information, visit NASS online at for aggregate facts and figures or call 800-727-9540.
