Life is good – especially when you've got a market steer that brings $24,960 at auction. And last weekend was awesome for 17-year-old Jimmy Full of Mt. Airy, Md.
His 1,280-pound grand champion market steer of the Maryland State Fair sold for $19.50 a pound, setting a state fair record. The steer was bought by Twin Arch Business Park and Van Mar Associates Engineering Firm, also Mt. Airy.
"It's amazing! I just can't believe it," said Jimmy Full. "I'll probably put the money toward my college tuition."
Full, who attends Carroll Community College, plans to transfer to a university with an agriculture tech program in the future. "4-H has given me a lot of leadership skills, knowledge, responsibility and sportsmanship that I use in many areas of my life. Most importantly is that I've made many great friends along the way," he adds.

EXPENSIVE STEAKS ON THE HOOF: Jimmy Full was more than happy that his grand champion steer put almost $25,000 into his college fund.
