Through sponsorship: BASF supporting peanut awards

BASF Agricultural Products Group, based in Raleigh, N.C., offers the widest range of crop protection products for peanuts of any company serving peanut producers.

BASF is proud to join with the Southeast Farm Press to sponsor the Peanut Profitability Award, which honors the innovative production efforts of peanut growers throughout the United States.

Peanuts are a management-intensive crop that demand constant attention and heavy inputs for control of insects, crop diseases and weeds. As the efforts of the award winners illustrate, taking the guesswork out of producing consistently high-quality and high-yielding peanut crops is a time consuming, but rewarding task.

BASF is developing new technologies to aid growers in these efforts, including a new fungicide scheduled for introduction in 2002. An Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC) with F500‘ as its active ingredient, the fungicide will offer growers the only peanut fungicide to combine superior leaf spot disease control with competitive white mold activity. With its flexible use patterns, rain fastness and broad-spectrum control, the product will free up valuable management time that a grower can spend with other important crops.

And, because of its broad-spectrum control of other troublesome diseases, including web blotch, rust, and pepperspot, the new fungicide will offer growers a new tool to maximize their yield potential.

This fungicide will join an existing line of BASF peanut products that includes Basagran®, Cadre®, Frontier®, Poast Plus®, Pursuit®, Prowl®, Storm® and Ultra Blazer® herbicides and Thimet® Lock N Load® soil and systemic insecticide.

BASF congratulates the 2001 Peanut Profitability Award winners and all peanut growers who strive to increase their yields and produce a healthy crop.
