Mitchell to Be Site of Manure Spreading Field Day

Latest liquid manure handling precision application technology will be on display.

The South Dakota Natural Resources Conservation Service is hosting a manure application field day today at Mitchell.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.  Presentations will begin at 10 a.m. and run until mid-afternoon.  During the day, a panel of experts will demonstrate the latest in liquid manure handling equipment and precision application technology.

These specialists will address several topics, including reducing costs for commercial fertilizer, protecting and improving soil and water quality, and determining the economic value of manure.

From Mitchell, the demonstration site is 10 miles south on Hwy 37 and 1 ½ miles west on Hwy 42.

The field day is sponsored by NRCS, the SD Cooperative Extension Service, local conservation districts, and custom manure applicators from throughout the region.
