A Spanish trade team will visit Fargo, N.D., Sept. 24-25. The team, comprised of officials from four of Spain's largest milling companies, will visit Fargo to learn how high quality hard red spring wheat can be used to blend with their own domestic crop.
North Dakota Wheat Commission Marketing Specialist Erica Peterson says Spain has quickly risen as one of the top importers of U.S. hard red spring wheat in the world, making large strides in the last 15 years.
"Spain went from importing almost no US wheat in 1993 to being the number one EU importer in 2007-08. Spain's visit to Fargo illustrates their continued interest in our region's quality wheat."
